Paper Copies of NSF Publications

In an effort to offer the public faster access to NSF publications,
the Foundation recently introduced the Science and Technology
Information System (STIS), our new electronic publishing system.
Before ordering printed copies of brochures, please try STIS -- it's
fast and it's free. With only a personal computer and a modem, or
access to Internet, you can download immediately, print or view the
Guide to Programs, Grants for Research and Education in Science and
Engineering, the Bulletin, the NSF Phone Book, and other NSF
publications. Many program announcements and abstracts are coming
online, too. For more information, request the STIS flyer (NSF 91-
10) on the Order Form on the back of the printed Bulletin or write
stis@nsf (Bitnet) or stis@nsfgov (Internet).

Alan T. Waterman Award Nominations

The deadline for receipt of nominations for the 17th Alan T.
Waterman Award is December 31, 1991. The Award, presented annually
to an outstanding young scientist, mathematician or engineer, will be
announced and presented in May 1992. For further information and/or
a copy of the guidelines for submission, contact Mrs. Susan Fannoney,
National Science Board (357-7512).
