I suggest 'Famine'- this being the 150th anniversary of the event, and it is
undoubtedly a powerful work with a wonderful heroine. Anthony Burgess
reviewed it a decade or so ago as 'a masterpiece'.
On the other hand, 'Skerrett' is set on the Aran Islands where O'Flaherty
came from and is my own favourite...
