Good day folks,

I'm happy to present the new package of gpm. This package provides
two Debian package: the gpm program and separately a shared library
(or not shared on a.out systems) that is used e.g. for mc.

Description: General Purpose Mouse Interface
This package provides a daemon that listens to the mouse when the
console is displayed, and delivers them to applications. It also
provides a shared library that may be linked to your application.
 .
The default when no application is running is to emulate
"selection", i.e. allow cut-and-paste with the mouse on the
console the same way as under X.

Good morning folks,

I have packaged mkdosfs - a filesystem creator for poor MS-DOS FAT
filesystems. Unfortunately I need it. :( Therefore I want to let
you all participate (ok, ok I know you won't install it, but it might
be interesting for some ppl that come from DOS and want to feel the
capabilities of a real os.)

I might also package dosfsck within the next days which contains a
program similar to the chkdsk from DOS.

standard finger daemons such as GNU fingerd, or MIT fingerd.
Cfingerd can enable/disable finger service to individual users,

respond to a finger request to a specified user by running a shell
script (e.g., finger doorbell@mysite.mydomain might cause a sound
file to be sent) rather than just a plain text file.

(I have heard of that project before) I have pushed the project very
  much.

Yesterday Miguel told me that he has uploaded the first released
package. Now I generated a Debian package out of it. Please use it
and send him your comments (his address is mentioned in the
  copyright file).

I've uploaded suck 2.6.3-2 to master.

This package fixed a bad path in the script get-news. It may go
to buzz-updates since get-news can't work with this bug.

Good morning folks,

I have re-packaged mkdosfs - a filesystem creator for poor MS-DOS FAT
filesystems.

Description: Kernel and system logging daemons.
This package implements two system log daemons. The syslogd daemon
 is
an enhanced version of the standard Berkeley utility program. This
daemon is responsible for providing logging of messages received from
programs and facilities on the local host as well as from remote
 hosts.
 .
The klogd daemon listens to kernel message sources and is responsible
for prioritizing and processing operating system messages. The klogd
daemon can run as a client of syslogd or optionally as a standalone
program. Klogd can now be used to decode EIP addresses if it can
 determine a System.map file.

Good day folks,

Here's my first official release of the mSQL Database engine and tools
for Debian Linux.

I'm sorry that it took quite a long time until publishing, but I had
serious problems in assigning a pair of uid/gid for the database and
there was much work to do with the engine.

Anyway I think this package now is well tested and patched to cope with
real work. As you can imagine I have included several patches.

  * ILIKE (instead of LIKE) works case insensitive
  * UPDATE account SET balance = balace + 100 WHERE nr = 12345
    now is possible
  * msqld may use RFC 1413 ident protocol to authentificate remote
    users
  * included manpages for all programs and API functions
  * corrected msqlConnect() to work with constant hostnames correctly
  * Bambis latest patch concerning the lost-table problem
  * msqlconfig to configure the engine

 * First release
 * Several changes, see debian.ChangeLog

-- End Changes --

There will be two more mSQL packages that I'll upload within the next
days: msqlperl, the perl frontend, and dbf2msql, a dBase<->mSQL
converter.

Still todo:

  * manpage msql(5) documenting the provided subset of ANSI-SQL
  * Test xsqlforms
  * package msqlforms (ftp://ftp.infodrom.north.de/pub/texte/IN-GS/software/unix/msql/msqlforms1.01.t.z)
  * extract patches for David Hughes
  * Think about a better access control

Have a pleasant day,

	Joey

Good day folks,

Larry 'Daffy' Daffner <vizzie@pinky.mimosa.org> has told me that there
is a new upstream release of pdksh. Here's the Debian package I have
generated out of it.

As I personally don't use pdksh and only took over the package because
one of my users needed it, I will give away this package to Larry after
some time.

compatible with both POSIX and AT&T ksh (when the two don't conflict).
 .
Since pdksh is free and compiles and runs on most common unix systems, it
is very useful in creating a consistent user interface across multiple
machines. For example, in the CS dept. of MUN, pdksh is installed on a
variety of machines including Suns, HPs, DecStations, pcs running Linux,
etc., and is the login shell of ~4500 users.

Good day folks,

Another upload of gpm is in progess. The main reason for this is
a new upstream release. I have also added a configuration tool
gpmconfig.

Description: General Purpose Mouse Interface
This package provides a daemon that listens to the mouse when the
console is displayed, and delivers them to applications. It also
provides a shared library that may be linked to your application.
 .
The default when no application is running is to emulate
"selection", i.e. allow cut-and-paste with the mouse on the
console the same way as under X.
 .
An Emacs lisp file is provided to use the mouse in emacs, when
emacs is running on the console.

Distribution: unstable
Binary: xdaliclock
Source: xdaliclock
Architecture: source i386
Version: 2.07-1
 Maintainer: Martin Schulze <joey@infodrom.north.de>
Description: Melting digital clock
The xdaliclock program displays a digital clock; when a digit changes,
it "melts" into its new shape.
  .
It can display in 12 or 24 hour modes, and displays the date when a
mouse button is held down. It has two large fonts built into it, but
it can animate most other fonts that contain all of the digits. It
can also do some funky psychedelic colormap cycling, and can use the
"shape" extension so that the window is shaped like the digits.

Good day Debian fans,

here's an upload of sokoban, a slickness game to move boxes around.
This sounds boring, but it isnt. I was told that it is famous, so
Debian must contain it.

This package is orphaned. If anyone is interested in maintaining
it, please contact me. (Sven, could you please add this package
to your list of packages that a maintainer wants to give away.)

Maintainer: David Engel <david@ods.com>
Source: libc5
Version: 5.2.18-11
Binary: libc5 libc5-dev libc5-dbg libc5-pic
Architecture: i386 source
Description:
 libc5: The Linux C library version 5 (run-time libraries).
 - Includes shared libraries needed to run programs built with libc 5.
libc5-dev: The Linux C library version 5 (development files).
 - Includes libc headers, kernel headers (v2.0.19) and static libraries.
libc5-dbg: The Linux C library version 5 (debug files).
 - Includes a static libraries compiled with debugging info.
libc5-pic: Kit for building specialized versions of the shared C library.
 - This installs an archive of C library object modules, /usr/lib/libc5-pic.a,
 - compiled as position-independent code. This archive can be used to build
 - specialized versions of the run-time-shared C library. It is almost
 - identical to /usr/lib/libc.a except that it is compiled in PIC.
 - You won't need this unless you are designing a custom boot floppy
 - or an embedded system.
Changes:
Updated the kernel headers to version 2.0.19.
 .
Minor fix to strftime from Royston Shufflebotham.
 .
Don't allow environment variables to override the resolver
 configuration (Bug#4190).
 .
Minor RPC header fixes from Peter Tobias to fix compiler warnings.
 .
Don't print NIS errors to stderr (Bug#3984).

Good day folks,

here's another bug-fixed release of my cfingerd package. Please be
so kind and test it and report outstanding bugs to me. :-)

-- Begin Changes --

Date: 14 Sep 96 1:23:49 UT
Format: 1.5
Distribution: unstable
Binary: cfingerd
Source: cfingerd
Architecture: source i386
Version: 1.2.2-5
Maintainer: Martin Schulze <joey@infodrom.north.de>
Description: Configurable and secure finger daemon
This is a free and secure finger daemon replacement for
standard finger daemons such as GNU fingerd, or MIT fingerd.
Cfingerd can enable/disable finger service to individual users,
rather than to all users on a given host. Cfingerd is able to
respond to a finger request to a specified user by running a shell
script (e.g., finger doorbell@mysite.mydomain might cause a sound
file to be sent) rather than just a plain text file.
Priority: Routine
Files:
 48276ea4f53333863843c2d67d29f561 24218 net - cfingerd_1.2.2-5.diff.gz

 1fb6c84adc556b46948eff744d4035a1 43550 net - cfingerd_1.2.2-5_i386.deb
Changes:
 * Fixed problem with MSG-N
 * Included Lucius' m68k fixes
 * search.*@ won't show up with the whole GCOS field anymore

-- End Changes --

Have a pleasant weekend with less work than I,

	Joey

This fixes bug#4489 where upgrades from one version of apmd to another would
kill kerneld, instead of apmd. The new preinst tests whether the upgrade is
from one of these version numbers and restarts kerneld accordingly.
