Proxies |
|||||||||||||||||||
A proxy server is a program that controls access to a private network. A proxy server is typically installed on a firewall. A proxy server blocks unauthorized access from outside of the firewall while allowing users inside of the firewall to access the Internet. If your network is protected by a firewall, you will need to configure proxy servers. You can specify a different proxy server for HTTP, Gopher, and FTP.
HTTP Proxy | Sets the domain name (or IP address) and port number of the proxy server you are using for HTTP servers. See your Internet access provider or system administrator for details.
Gopher Proxy | Sets the domain name (or IP address) and port number of the proxy server you are using for Gopher servers.
FTP Proxy | Sets the domain name (or IP address) and port number of the proxy server you are using for FTP servers.
Bypass Proxy On | Allows you to access servers inside of your firewall without using a proxy server. In the Bypass Proxy On field, specify the IP addresses, domain names, and
ports that should be accessed directly without using a proxy server. Separate
entries with commas. Examples:
|
||||||||||||||||||
SOCKS Proxy | Sets the address of the SOCKS proxy that you want to use.
