************************************************************************** Alexandria Backup and Archive Librarian October 1998 README.TXT ************************************************************************** Alexandria, a sophisticated data backup and restore software package, runs as a server or network client on Linux, as well as on virtually every other UNIX platform available, including SunOS, Solaris, HP, Compaq (DEC) Alpha, SGI, Sequent, NCR, SCO, and more. Alexandria supports a variety of robotic tape libraries ranging from low-cost autoloaders through high-end silos, using the libraries to support fully automated backups. Alexandria optionally supports hot (live) Oracle and Informix backups as well as network backups of Windows NT, 95, and 98 systems. The Alexandria software available on this CD installs Alexandria in demonstration mode, letting you try out Alexandria's extensive set of features. Alexandria supports automated data scheduling, backup, and media handling, and data restoration. You can install on both clients and servers, and run Alexandria from a single computer, accessing Alexandria as it is running on the local machine and on other computers.
