/proc/ksyms Introduction 11.. PPuurrppoossee /proc/ksyms is a virtual file used to extract the kernel symbols needed for to dynamically link kernel modules. This file is of little utility for end users and even administrators. It lets _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f identify whether the kernel is capable of loading modules. If this file is available, linuxconf will make sure that the module system is properly initialised.
