There is one nice feature: You put an access rule with the fax alias. You can't do that with sendmail aliases. Internet service provider will probably set their fax gateway with some rules allowing faxing for their own operation and rejecting all other faxing, except faxing to their own customer. This way they are providing something nice for customers without a good email access, yet they are not providing the world with a fax gateway to anywhere.
