Linuxconf's features Introduction _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f itself has some features which control its behavior. While those features are generally spread-ed in task related dialogs, some fits nowhere and end here. 11.. KKeeyybbooaarrdd mmaapp You can pick the proper keyboard map for your country. A help list shows all the available ones on your system. You are allowed to enter the path of a custom map. 22.. LLaanngguuaaggee Linuxconf is translated in few language beside English. Use the help list to see which ones are currently installed. 33.. HHTTMMLL ttiimmeeoouutt When _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f receive an _H_T_T_P request, it will start process the request and will stay running for some time. After some inactivity time, Linuxconf will exit. While this have little impact on its functionality because the HTTP protocol is logically stateless (each transaction is conceptually complete), there exist some complex HTML dialog which require Linuxconf to remember some information about pages it has generated. If you are too slow to fill a screen and accept it, Linuxconf may very well quit in the mean time. This has two drawbacks: +o Increase disk activity (not much) to start, stop and restart Linuxconf. +o Some complex dialog may not work because Linuxconf have forgotten some important state information when it have exited. This situation arise in some complex sequence of input screen which are not part of the standard distribution of Linuxconf yet (experimental features). Anyway, you can raise the timeout so Linuxconf will wait longer before exiting. The timeout is expressed in minutes. 44.. UUssee tthhee GGUUII mmooddee Linuxconf uses the appropriate user interface mode all by itself. On some under-power workstation, it is sometime nicer to use the text mode. It gives a better performance. Using this check-box, you are letting Linuxconf use the GUI mode under X11 or not. 55.. MMaayy uussee ccoolloorrss iinn tteexxtt mmooddee Some people are using monochrome monitor with VGA adaptor. There is no way Linuxconf can detect this. The result is unreadable. This checkbox forces Linuxconf in black and white mode. 66.. HHTTMMLL bbooddyy ppaarrmm You can control the parameter of the BODY html statement. The parameters you provide will be used for all html page generated by linuxconf. This may be useful if you manage several _L_i_n_u_x stations using a browser. By using different settings, you can differentiate them more easily. Here are some example you may want to try bgcolor=gray90
