Missing commands Introduction _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f can't locate a command on your system. Some actions are required. 11.. WWhhyy ssoommeetthhiinngg iiss mmiissssiinngg There are different reason why something might be missing on your system. +o You did not install all packages. Most _L_i_n_u_x distribution let you add the package on the fly. On _D_e_b_i_a_n systems, this is done with the dselect command. On _R_e_d_H_a_t systems, this is done with the glint command. On _S_l_a_c_k_w_a_r_e systems, this is done with the pkgtool command. +o Your distribution have none standard components. Most distribution (for some time now) agree on the FSSTND. This document describe where things should go. At least one distribution is fun. Some _R_e_d_H_a_t 3.0.3 cdrom contain /usr/sbin/portmap and some contain /usr/sbin/rpc.portmap. Most distribution contain the later. Anyway, you will have to investigate this and fix the path used by _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f. +o You do not intend to run this package anyway, so you did not install it. 22.. WWhhaatt yyoouu ccaann ddoo If you select yes, a dialog will be offered letting you disable this command or change the path. If you accept the change, linuxconf will retry the command and continue its normal processing. If you decide to disable the command, you will be able to reenable it later using the option List all command and daemons from the main menu. Further, in the linuxconf's log (/var/run/netconf.log) _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f will remind you that this command would have been started if _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f was allowed to. Might be handy later if you decide to install the command after all.
