2001-03-28 -+- wqi -+- -+- good article! keep going man! 2001-06-14 -+- kecajo -+- kecajo@yahoo.de -+- Klasse !!! 2001-10-14 -+- guido socher -+- -+- Recently people tell me that they often see something like this
in the /var/log/messages file and they can't connect:
pppd[1231]: Serial connection established.
pppd[1231]: Using interface ppp0
pppd[1231]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
pppd[1231]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xc1667272> <pcomp> <accomp>]
last message repeated 2 times
pppd[1231]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
pppd[1231]: Modem hangup
pppd[1231]: Connection terminated.
pppd[1231]: Exit.

What you see is that the other side does not respond and then
the system hangs up. This happens when the ISP has a problem with it's
ppp. This is usually because there are too many people connected.
Try later or use a different ISP.
2002-02-26 -+- guido socher -+- guido@linuxfocus.org -+- It's less than one year that I have written this article and most
of the ISPs given as examples are no longer existant.
A good ISP seems to be now:
