Several messages showed up yesterday either in CCNL, a public net, or posted by a group called "ACCA National HQ", blaming the IFCSS for not taking actions against Simpson Bill. In "ACCA" 's posting, the writer even regarded the IFCSS' effort for an Advertisement Donation Drive as a "smoke" (What for?). The IFCSS definitely believes that more efforts should be made, and meanwhile feels regretful to some rumors floating around. The IFCSS' agenda for Simpson Bill is: 1). Contact the Congress members' offices, and set apppointments to meet their aides and staffs; 2). Contact the business community by phone calls and mass mailing, making this circle alerted; 3). Contact the top officials of higher education on campuses by phone calls and mass mailing; 4). Join in several lobbying Coalitions to get most updated informa- tion and discussion of strategies; 5). Prepare materials and summaries, spread news and informations and request coordinated actions throughout IFCSS network reaching the members of Chinese students and scholars; 6). Contact Chinese student group officials nationwide for promotion of activities and coordination of jointed actions. 7). Initiate newspaper advertisement donation drive in CSS community; 8). Seek for opportunities for holding press conference and public rally if practical. We don't have to say the IFCSS has done enough, and done well. The campaign has been far away from expected. It is a rumor to say that IFCSS claimed a victory over H.R. 2202 mark-up. In contrast, IFCSS expressed much disappointment on that campaign. It was IFCSS officals who co-sponsored and participated in "national lobby day"; It was IFCSS officials who attended all marking-up conferences on H.R. 2202 and brought the newest information of it to the community; It was IFCSS who firstly protested Simpson Bill and, by providing most concise summaries throughout IFCSS network, and appealed to national Chinese community for taking actions. Yes, it's possible that our effort would fail again, but it's not the time right now for blaming each other. The IFCSS must admit that the campaign has been very tough, and IFCSS officials have been a bit depressed by the participation and involve- ment of general public in this tough battle. However, in any sense, we must work hard and keep the things going on. Meannwhile, we would like to appeal to our fellow man and women: it's our own responsibi- lity to stand up with strong voices. It is IFCSS' wish that, all suggestions and criticism are welcome, and we especially appreciate the self-restraints of irresponsible postings, particularly at this critical moment. Let's save more time and energy for fighting the discriminative legislations, instead of being hatred of and fighting with each other, which we have been fed up with. Let's move forward. Thank for your attention.
