Dear Friend: Thanks for your interests in Hua Xia Wen Zhai (HXWZ)! Currently, HXWZ publishes both GB version and HZ version at the same time with the same contents. It also has PostScript version available via anonymous ftp, ready for print. GB and HZ codes are two formats that Chinese files are coded to appear on a computer. The practical differences between a GB format article and a HZ format article is in that the former is needed to be encoded during transmisson through e-mail network and has to decode it again before reading it after receiving from e-mail network, while the latter (HZ) does not need such encode/decode process. Therefore, in order to read GB version HXWZ, you need to decode the file that is extracted from the message you have received from HXWZ, and use a GB Chinese viewer on your computer to read it, while if you receive from HXWZ in Hz format, then you need to have a Hz Chinese viewer to read it without decoding. Depending on what subscription you have placed upon, if you have received a message including such line as "begin 644 cm93***.gb", then the message is an encoded GB version HXWZ, otherwise, your subscription is on Hz version HXWZ. Again, depending on what computer system you are using, you can choose suitable Chinese viewers/editors for you. I will mail you a catalogue file that includes all the related softwares at ifcss.org site, which you can retrieve via anonymous ftp, as well as where and how to get decode program on various computer systems. If you still have problems to read HXWZ after trying by yourself, please feel free to let us know at cnd-help@cnd.org. Hope you will be able to read HXWZ soon! HXWZ Reader Technical Consultant.
