Although it is still early, you may wish to send a brief message at this time, letting them know that you support immigration-reform bills such as HR 1915, which was announced here a few weeks ago. (HR 1915 would reduce overall legal immigration by 1/3, and tighten up on the principle of family reunification, which has been producing endless chain migration (son petitions for parent, who petitions for parent's brother, who petitions for parent's brother's wife's sister, etc.)). So far the bill has passed the House Immigration Subcommittee. It next will be voted on next by the full Judiciary, and if it passes, it will then go to the entire House, etc. There are two reasons for sending e-mail to the Senate at this time: 1. At least one of the anti-HR 1915 organizations is already doing this (this is an organization of students from China studying at American universities, who hope to be sponsored by American employers for green cards after they graduate). 2. The Senate is pondering other immigration-reform bills at this time, so we should let them know that we support the general concept. Again, at this time, only short messages should be sent. Later, when the bill is considered by the Senate, longer messages should be sent.
