Petition letters with over 15,000 signatures sent to Congress ........ 18 _From: ACCA National Headerquarters (NYC) Over the last weekend, ACCA has sent petition letters with 15,000 signatures to members of House Judiciary Committee to express our greatest concerns. Over 42 Congressmen/women, including all the 35 members of House Judiciary Committee, and the 7 leadership of the House were included. However, due to uncertain reasons, about nine faxes are still queued in our computer center waiting to be delivered probably due to technical problems at the receiving end. ACCA will see make sure all of the rest will be delivered in a day or two. Meanwhile, ACCA urges our readers to collect more signatures and send them to our acca@superprism.net. We will use this signature file to push both House and Senate. At the same time, PLEASE pick up your phone and call congress by yourself. PLEASE keep the receptionists of those representative BUSY listening to your voices! PLEASE KEEP sending faxes to the Congress! TOGETHER, WE SHALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ============================================================================ 2. New Draft Reinforce Senate Bill S. 269 to cut Immigration even deep! . 21 _From: Washington, NIF After Senator Alan Simpson's (R-WY) anti-immigration bill S 269 moved through Senate Immigration Subcommittee last June, Senator Alan Simpson drafted and added more provisions into his favorite bill "Immigration Control and Financial Responsibility Act of 1995". The highlights of those newly added provisions are: 1 Parents of U.S. citizens can only immigrate to the U.S. AFTER 65, with more than half of their children residing in U.S., and obtain health insurance equivalent to Medicare and Medicaid 2 Propose sever cuts in family-sponsored immigration, eliminating adult sons and daughters, and siblings categories. 3 Cut employment-based immigration down to 75,000 a year with significant changes in preference classifications and labor certification 4 Propose a creation of a conditional status for employment-based immigrations. This new bill HAS NOT ASSIGNED A NUMBER YET. But we better pay attention to it! ============================================================================ For donations to NOI/ACCA, please make your checks payable to Association for Chinese Community Affairs, and mail them to Mr. Frank Chen c/o ACCA; 361 Ogden Avenue, Jersey City, NJ07307 ============================================================================ To endorse ACCA's petition letters to Congress, write to acca@superprism.net following the computer retrievable format as attached: From: *your e-mail-address here" To: acca@superprism.net Subjest: Signature #NJ 07307, Mr. Frank Chen, 361 Ogden Avenue, Jersey City, or #NJ 07307, Mr. Frank Chen, (291)-299-8909 Please retain an extra copy for yourself.
