Activities..............................................................23 ============================================================================= A. The CBS incident Committee is preparing a nationwide letter compaign, to send protest letters to hundreds of News media, civil organizations and government agencies. The detail of the compaign has been published in the July 15 special edition of News Release. We call for all Chinese who are angered by the slanderous CBS report to show your support, by sending us your signatures, donation, or devoting some of your precious time to our compaign. "United, we can make a difference!" B. Two activists in the CBS case and members of the CBS Incident Committee, Luo Ning and Liu Chengyan, announced their candidacy for the President/ Vice-President election of the IFCSS. Luo and Liu have been among the back bones of the CBS Incident Committee since its birth. Whether they are elected or not, the Committee think close cooperation betweens IFCSS and the Committee, as well as all other Chinese organizations will greatly benefit the all Chinese in this new land. C. Committee of 100, an organization consisting of many elite ethnical Chinese in this country, wrote a letter to U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, expressing their concerns over the inadequacy of the CBS report. ============================================================================== 2. Letters from Netters.....................................................30 ============================================================================== _From: D. Zhang Dear Mi Mi and CBS Incident Committee: From the recent report by Luo Ning, I know the unsuccessfyll trying of filing a law suit. On my previous letter to you, I expressed my view for law suit: "It is a tough case. There is little chance for us to win, but CBS-IC(CBS Incident Committee) has to do some thing on it. It is a gesture." CBS-IC has to set up the goals toward this issue. Of cause, the best outcome is to make CBS to give a public appology. Well, is that possible? Probably, the practical goals are, I think, by means of fighting with CBS to unite the CSS in the U.S., to voice the views of CSS and to make CSS a respected society or, at least, a society of being seriousely treated. Next step, CBS-IC should launch some visiable activities, e.g. boycott and making this issue to public. IFCSS is going to have its 6da. Is a good chance to unite more universities to act together. Timing is important. CBS-IC should initiate a nation-wide action before the majorety of CSS lose the interest and the strong angery feeling to this issue. _From: Mark He I think CBS committee should seek closer coorperations with IFCSS and local CSS associations, so that you can have greater financial resources and manpower to fight a giant like CBS. The problem with us Chinese in the past is we always fight among ourselves. If we don't unite and do something now, somebody will keep on shitting on us in the future. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % Editor of CBS Incident Committee: Xiangdong Shi % % Sign on/off at listserv@ifcss.org, with mailbody as: % % sub fcbs-l Firstname Lastname, or signoff fcbs-l % % Post at fcbs-l@ifcss.org % % Anonymous ftp at ifcss.org:/ifcss/Legal/cbs % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
