New Developments ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ a. CBS-IC has received more than $1,800 donation as of today. We thank everyone who has supported with his/her precious time and financial resources. b. CBS-IC is in the final stage to send complain letter to DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), the employer of Mr. Eftimiades. The letter will be carried by the next issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. CBS-IC calls for more volunteers to locate current and past documents....23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CBS-IC has been using various computer systems to locate current and past documentation which could be used in our formal complains to concerned Federal Agencies. Mr. Lin Huang has obtained dozens of such titles through the NYC public library system. The results show that, not only Mr. Eftimiades, but many other Federal officials, went so far to testify before Congress using the surging number of China visitors to the U.S. as the evidence of "widespread" efforts to spy on U.S., and called for more resources, in the light of collapse of USSR and former East Bloc. Such in-depth research is vital and CBS-IC is expecting more help from our supporters. CBS-IC is expecting the following help from our netters: 1) Locating the source's titles, abstracts through various computer systems. Different database covers different range of newspapers, magazines, professional publications. Please explore all those databases to locate all of the citations, and send them back to us. 2) We will identify those we do need in a systematic fashion and give you a list for collecting these articles, making photocopies, scanning them and sending them to us. To protect ourselves needs your help. If you believe this task is important to you, then please remember your participation is more important to us, to make our effort sustainable and effective. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. CBS-IC's statement on the Alleged Fang Zheng's incident..................14 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recently, there are protest letter drives aimed at the alleged Fang Zheng's incident (please refer to cnd-us.94-08-18). Concerned readers may contact the following person who has initiated the protest letter drive on IFCSS VC net and some local areas. CBS-IC is a coalition of CSS activists who came together to protest the false CBS report. It morally condemns any human rights and civil rights violation in any part of the world, and supports the efforts that seek equal treatments of underprivileged people. Supporters and members of the committee are therefore encouraged to take part individually in the current petition drive regarding the alleged Fang Zheng's case. The use of CBS-IC's name, however, is considered inappropriate at this stage. For more information on the alleged Fang Zheng's incident and the protesting letters to the White House, U.S. Senators and Congressional leaders, please contact Zhang, Kangcong of IFCSS VC net at KCZHANG@MACC.WISC.EDU. IFCSS VC net is a network of IFCSS activists. If you believe it is more appropriate to write to Chinese officials, please contact Professor Li Xiaolin, a member of CBS-IC at linli@bigsun.iupucs.iupui.edu. We encourage our readers to make all possible contacts you might have inside the China to confirm this incident and to follow up the story. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % Editor of CBS Incident Committee: Xiangdong Shi, Miao Ye % % Sign on/off at listserv@ifcss.org, with mailbody as: % % sub fcbs-l Firstname Lastname, or signoff fcbs-l % % Post at fcbs-l@ifcss.org % % Anonymous ftp at ifcss.org:/ifcss/Legal/cbs % % $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ % % $ Please support our common cause by $ % % $ making your contribution payable to $ % % $ IFCSS/CBS Incident Fund, and mail it to $ % % $ Mr. Frank Chen / CBSIC $ % % $ 361 Ogden Avenue, $ % % $ Jersey City, NJ 07307 $ % % $Thank you for your pledge, and we will make a difference!$ % % $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
