Dear Colleagues: I agree with some activists in the committee to affiliate more groups into a coalition on CBS issue, and this is what I am working on. So far, I already got two positive responses from about eleven Chinese American organizations: Chinese of Affirmative Actions and Sicilicon Valley Engineers Association. What I did are: inform them the response from css community upon the report, send the letters from IFCSS HQ and other CSS activists to both those non-profit organizations and media (as I have told Chengyan that I have sent Mr. Liu Kaiping some information, and he wrote one report on Tsing Tao Daily on May 27 on the coverpage, BTW, a lot of thanks for Chengyan's efforts, he has been the messenger between the net and myself with spending very much time and money on the phone calls.) Mr. Liu is going to do following up report on this issue. I hope you can give me more information, so that I can pass to him. Currently, I think we have to do a thorough analysis of the hurts which the CBS report has brought to us. It will be great if we can collect some subsequent facts or personal cases. All the complains, the first step of lawsuit, should be based upon the defenders' breaches of duties or detriment or harms caused to others. Thus, if we can list out potential hurts and actual harms caused by the report, we can have solid ground for further actions and even lawsuits, and all of our concerns can appear more reasonable to outsiders. Obviously, the potential hurts and harms can include: Hurts on job opportunities in high-tech industry (has been mentioned by SVEA); Hurts on job opportunities in public organiztions; Hurts on admissions to school; Hurts on immigration and visas (?); Hurts on social relationship between Chinese and other ethnic groups; Other hurts not mentioned above. We need to do two surveys: one is about the response from CSS community, another is from random selected Americans. And the results can be our cause for further actions. I am glad that many activists are working on this issue. And I hope all of you don't hesitate to contact me if I am useful for anything to you. I also think the working committee should have specializations according to each member's ability in the structure. I just got on the net, and I hope all of you can forgive my ignorance if there is kind of structure to allocate responsibilities to each member, and I do hope any of you can inform me about the structure. Otherwise, I recommand the following to improve efficiency through allocation of responsibilities and specialization according to abilities, (these are the key elements of professionalism): The Public Forum, to receive information from anyone. The Committee, to steer the important direction The executive branch, to work on all the details Executive branch may be headed by Mr. Huang Lin, who is appointed by HQ, with assistance from Mr. Liu Chengyan, Mr. Qi Bing, who is a council member leading this issue, and another member with good skill of organization operation elected from the committee with his nomination, and with following branches (I suggested a team leader for each team, so the responsibilities are clear) 1.Survey team, to do surveys, 2.Public letters circulation team, to circulate appeal letters 3.Issue reseach team, to do further research about the book and the report 4.Legal action team, to find a free lawyer and prepare for lawsuit based upon surveys and other information 5.Liaison team, to affiliate more Chinese groups on our side 6.Press team, send out any actions from the committee to any kind of media, from public net to newspapers, 7.Finance team, no works can be done without money, though maney can't do all things. 8.Any other necessary team I am able to provide many personal contacts for Press team, Liaison Team, Legal Action Team, and Finance Team after the responsibilities are clear.
