(202)347-0017 Fax: (202)347-0018 Email: ifcss@wam.umd.edu IFCSS HQ Biweekly Report BW-4007 (November 1-15) Nov. 4: The HQ sent a letter of congratulation to President-elect Bill Clinton. The letter urged Clinton to pressure the Chinese government on human rights related issues. Nov. 5: The HQ disclosed the GDL project. GDL is a group distribution list which will send IFCSS email announcements to local CSS networks so that local CSS members may automatically receive IFCSS news from their local email networks. Nov. 6: The HQ announced that the June 4th Foundation now has been consolidated and can accept donations. The June 4th Rescue funds in the University of North Carolina have been transferred to the IFCSS June 4th Foundation. Some others are considering such move. Obviously, IFCSS has strengthened its image among the CSS community. Nov. 7: The HQ has completed documentary preparation for the mass mailing (donation) project and began to collect names of potential donors. An appeal for help was issued. Nov. 5-8: IFCSS Theoretic Research Committee Chairman Li Changsheng visited the HQ to collect materials for the IFCSS White Book project (to publish a book on the past, present and future of IFCSS). Nov. 10: The HQ issued a report on the State Department's interpretation on S1216 and pointed out that there will be a long way to go in the implementation of S1216. Nov. 12: IFCSS Vice-president He Baoping and Executive Director Zhang Qingsong met with some executives and discussed helping IFCSS members find jobs after graduation. They agreed to start on Computer, communication and networking related fields. A detailed report will come out in a day or two.
