We put on the wrong phone number for Mrs. Lynda Zengerle's office, and the CORRECT number to contact her is (202)857-8935 For your convenience, we attach the original news release in the following: The 90 Days Limit of the CSPA ============================= Under the CSPA, any individual who has returned to and stayed in China for more than 90 days is considered to be ineligible for PR in the United States. The IFCSS HQ has spoken to Senator Kennedy's staff and requested consideration of certain events such as government interference or illness which would have forced an individual to remain in China for a total of more than 90 days between April 11, 1990 and October 9, 1992. Senator Kennedy's staff members have indicated that while the CSPA seems to be fairly inflexible with regard to the 90 day rule, the Senetor MAY be willing to ask for a case-by-case consideration for those applicants who have remained more than 90 days but can explain their overstay as an event beyond their control. Mr. Jerry Tinker, the Senator staff director, also indicated that a return to China and stay of more than 90 days based on one's own free will, such as teaching even in a U.S. foundation program, should not be considered as grounds for a waiver. If you believe that you would qualify for a waiver from the 90 day requirement, based on the criteria we have discussed above, and you wish to have an attorney assist you with your application, we suggest that you contact Lynda S. Zengerle 1050 Connecticut Avenue, NW. Washington D.C. 20036 Tel: (202) 857-8935 (This is the correct number) Fax: (202) 857-6395 Mrs Zengerle is the partner in charge of the Immigration Practice at Arent/Fox. She has assisted us in our CSPA lobbying effort in many ways, and is directly involved in working on the 90 day issue. However, as the 90 day issue will be handled case by case, the Firm will bill for legal services at an hourly rate. This you can discuss with Mrs Zengerle. ********************************************************************* * IFCSS Headquarters Office * *-------------------------------------------------------------------* * President: Lin Changsheng Vice President: Shi Heping * *-------------------------------------------------------------------* * PBS-L is IFCSS's news distribution list for individuals.
