(202)347-0017 Fax: (202)347-0018 Email: ifcss@wam.umd.edu Taiwan Tour & Seminar ===================== The fourth Taiwan Tour & Seminar sponsored by the Global Chinese Student Association will take place in July, 1994. Applications are now being accepted from all overseas Mainland Chinese students. Since the first tour in July of 1991, sponsored by the Chinese Youth Solidarity, the goal of the tour has been to increase Mainland Chinese students' understanding of Taiwan and to bring about greater communication between Chinese students all over the world. Over 200 students from all parts of the world have participated in the Taiwan Tour & Seminar over the past three years and are still participating in related activities. Preparations for the fourth Taiwan Tour & Seminar have already begun. The tour is scheduled for early July and is expected to last two weeks. Interested students should complete the following materials for consideration: 1. Essay Essay should address your experiences as an overseas student, as well as address your thoughts on bringing about reform in China. The topic can be of your choosing and should not be less than 5,000 characters. 2. Autobiography Include all relevant personal data (along with one personal photo), your path of personal growth, and your career plans for the next ten years. 3. Recommendation Letter Letter can be written by any of the following: a. Chinese Student organization leader b. Former Taiwan study tour participant c. Professor or scholar within your academic background d. Taiwan U.S. consulate representative Applicants should mail the above application materials to: Chinese Youth Solidarity 7F-3, No. 162 Roosevelt Rd. Section 4 Taipei, Taiwan R.O.C. Applications should be postmarked by March 15, 1994. Applications can also be faxed to: 886-2-365-6023. The phone number is: 886-2-362-5936. Applications will be judged on the basis of their application materials. Participants will also be chosen with respect to selecting a broad range of professional backgrounds as well as geographical locations.
