It aims to increase the openness and transparency of the IFCSS, and to encourage criticisms, suggestions and active participation from our members. November 1, Monday Lin Changsheng met with Wu Tao, the Chair of the Theory and Research Working Committee, in Phoenix to discuss the committee's work and the IFCSS stand over Jiang Zemin's impending visit to the US. The HQ staff contacted the IRS HQ to develop a program to assist the IFCSS members to file tax forms. The HQ issued News Release 5071 to encourage input from the CSS community over Jiang Zemin's visit to the US and possible IFCSS actions during the event. November 2, Tuesday The HQ staff contacted Pacific Rainbow Company to develop a membership service program in the field of books and publications. The IFCSS executive director Liu Xiaozhu sent a letter to Ms. Rita Boie and Mr. E. B. Duarte of INS HQ to inquire about the current status of the CSPA implementation. Lin Changsheng returned to Washington D.C. after visiting Southern California and Arizona. November 3, Wednesday Student leaders of the 1989 democratic movement Xiong Yan and Zhou Yongjun, and the former leader of Independent Workers Union (Gong1 Zi4 Lian2) Zhao Pinlu visited the IFCSS HQ. The HQ continued to contact INS and State Department over the problems encountered by the CSPA leftovers. The HQ began to coordinate to establish a Committee of Anti- Discrimination Watch. The Committee will fight against all forms of discrimination and victimization of the Chinese students. November 4, Thursday Ms. Maranda Yen Shieh visited the HQ to discuss cooperation between the IFCSS and GWNCD, an overseas Chinese group stationed in the D.C. area. John Pascoe visited the HQ to work on the Medical Insurance Program. The agreement was reached that the premium will stayed the same while new benefits added to the plan. Lin Changsheng signed agreement with PTS Travel Agency to open a new line of air ticket service to the CSS community. Liu Xiaozhu attended the meeting of Congressional China Group. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi dropped by and shared her view with the group. The HQ continued to coordinate within the organization for possible actions on Jiang Zemin's impending visit. November 5, Friday The HQ issued News Release 5072 to kick off a series of service programs for air traveling to and from China. Lin Changsheng met with student representative of the Georgetown University. Sean Mack of Amnesty International visited the HQ, and interviewed Liu Xiaozhu. John King of Meridian International Center visited the HQ. The HQ completed in processing applications for the IFCSS Delegation to Taiwan. November 6, Saturday The HQ received the council's financial inspection team and went on with its accounting auditing.
