February 14, Monday The HQ staff worked on a grant proposal to the National Endowment for Democracy. The HQ staff talked to the members in IFCSS Human Rights Committee on the issue of China's human right record. The HQ staff worked on the preparation of the IFCSS Delegation to Taiwan. The HQ staff assisted Kyna Bubin with information for his research project. Lin Changsheng talked to Liu Chengyan about the work of the New- Comers Committee. February 15, Tuesday The HQ staff talked to Diane Kirkland of the House Ways and Means Committee. The HQ staff talked to the Arent Fox regarding the 90 day issue of the CSPA. The HQ staff went to the NED office to seek grant for IFCSS project. The HQ staff reviewed some complaints from the Chinese students over Consular harassment. Maria Puente of the USA Today contacted the HQ for interview. February 16, Wednesday Jeff W.S. Lin visited the HQ and the HQ staff assisted him to work on the semi-annual financial statements and budget report. The HQ staff began to work on organizing a women's group to focus on women's issue in China. The president of the Chinese Student Association In U.S.A. (Taiwan) visited the HQ to discuss cooperation with the IFCSS. The HQ staff worked with the House Ways and Means Committee on an opportunity to present the IFCSS views at the Congressional hearing. The HQ assisted Linda Jakobson from a Finland magazine to connecting with the Chinese student community in Finland. The HQ issued News Release 5107 and 5108 to present the record of the Questions-And-Answers Session conducted by CPA Jeff W.S. Lin during the IFCSS Working Meeting (Feb 5, 1994). February 17, Thursday John Pascoe, Vice President of the IGS, visited the HQ to work on the improvement of the IFCSS Medical Insurance Plan. The HQ issued the News Release 5109 to report on the work by the IFCSS Professional Working Committee. The HQ issued the News Release 5110 to report on the work by the IFCSS Educational Fund. February 18, Friday The HQ staff work to prepare for the Taiwan trip. The House Ways and Means Committee called the HQ to confirm on IFCSS testimony before the Congress. Eva Wang of the AAA visited the HQ and talked with the HQ staff over the IFCSS telephone service program. The HQ staff continued to work on the formation of a women's group devoting to women's issues in China. The Probe Internation of the World Bank contacted the HQ and briefed China's resettlement program. The HQ issued press release regarding Zhang Xiangliang's prison condition in China.
