It aims to increase the openness and transparency of the IFCSS, and to encourage criticisms, suggestions and active participation from our members. (This issue contains report on two weeks' activities for the IFCSS) March 14, Monday HQ worked with Linda Zengeler of Arent Fox regarding 90-days issue of CSPA. HQ was contacted by Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's office regarding recent events in US-China relations. March 15, Tuesday HQ staff mailed letters to appropriate offices in the Executive Branch regarding the 90-day CSPA issue. HQ staff spoke with Senator Baucus's office regarding China MFN. March 16, Wednesday HQ drafted and mailed a "Letter to the Editor" (Washington Post) regarding published editorial. IGS representative John Pascoe visited headquarters. Louisa Coan of NED visited the office and met with HQ staff. March 17, Thursday National Democratic Institute contacted HQ staff regarding IFCSS project. March 18, Friday HQ staff talked with Jeff Lin regarding accounting work. HQ contacted local CSS's regarding letter to President Clinton. HQ contacted congressional offices and news media regarding US- China relations. March 21, Monday HQ sent out News Release # 5124 about the update on the letter to President Clinton (see News Release # 5119). HQ staff was contacted by Senator Baucus office. March 22, Tuesday HQ sent a proposal from the University of Wisconsin-Madison to IFCSS Council for consideration about hosting the 6th IFCSS Congress. HQ staff was contacted by Congresswoman Pelosi's office. HQ staff had a meeting with Kenneth Wollack, Karen Clark and Derek Mitchell, president and program officers of National Democratic Institute For International Affairs. March 23, Wednesday HQ sent letters and legal argements on the 90 day issue to Rita Boie of INS, Phylis Coven of Justice Dept. and Mr. Eric Schwartz of National Security Council. March 24, Thursday HQ met with John Pascoe and Jerry Hopkins of IGS to discuss better service of IFCSS Medical Plan. HQ staff was interviewed by Canada AM on human rights in China. HQ staff contacted the NED officers regarding IFCSS projects. March 25, Friday Xing Zheng, President of ACSS in Cornell University, visited the HQ. HQ staff went to American Security Bank to open another account in accordance with the standard practice of professional accounting management. Japanese newspaper Asahi Shibum interviewed HQ staff on views regarding the US-China relationship.
