It aims to increase the openness and transparency of the IFCSS, and to encourage criticisms, suggestions and active participation from our members. May 9, 1994 Headquarter sent Financial Report (2) to IFCSS Council. HQ sent news release No.5132 regarding registration regulations of the 6th Congress. May 10, 1994. IFCSS headquarter staff joined a reception held in honor of Wang Juntao by the local Chinese community. Wang is a leading Chinese dissident who was recently released from prison by the Chinese government. His release was considered as a significant gesture of the Chinese government when the debate over China's MFN status became a hot issue again at this time of the year. May 11, 1994. IFCSS headquarter staff were present at a reception held in Capitol in honor of Wang Juntao. House majority leader Gethart Hart and Senate majority leader George Mitchell spoke highly of Wang, praising him as the embodiment of the value of freedom and democracy. Liu Xiaozhu, Executive Director of IFCSS, joined the other leaders of the local Chinese community in lobbying the Congress for the improvement of the human rights condition in China. May 12, 1994. IFCSS president Lin Changsheng joined Wang Juntao in a press conference held in Capitol. Lin stressed that China should pursue the balance between the economic development and political reform. Leaders of other Chinese organizations and other dissidents such as Liu Bingyan, Zhao Haiqing, Zhang Boli, and Yan Xiaomei also answered questions at the conference. Liu Xiaozhu, Executive Director of IFCSS, had a meeting with Anthony Lake, National Security adviser. The two exchanged their opinions on several issues, including the human rights condition in China and the debate over China's MFN status. IFCSS headquarter was informed that Council members Liu chen, Qi Bing and Chen Dong will represent the Council to cooperate with the headquarter to prepare for the 6th Congress. May 13,1994.
