The motion to lay the CP40007 on the table was adopted by IFCSS Council =============================================================================== The Motion to lay the CP4007 on Table by Li Wenyan/Li Gang Whereas the Olympic Games have passed, I move that the proposed resolution CP4007 be laid on the table. =================== The motion to lay the CP40007 on the table was adopted by the Council through ananimous consent on August 15th,1992 ================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attached: Proposed Resolution CP4007 PROTEST ON NBC'S ATTACKING CHINESE ATHLETES by Li Wenyan Whereas, NBC sports anchor Bob Costas attacked on Chinese Olympic athletes by relating their good performance to drug use. Whereas, On July 30th evening Olympic program, Bob Costas made a concluding comments on the Olympic swimming contest. Bob Costas accused on the no ground that Chinese swimming athletes had taken performance enhance drugs. He commented that the Chinese swimming athletes' appearance, voice, and the rapid improvement in their performance are the symptoms of using drugs without any evidence. Whereas, His attacking other nation's athletes not only disregarded a journalism common role, but also violated Olympic spirit. His comments deeply hurt all Chinese including 80,000 Chinese students and scholars in the United States. Be it resolved, On behalf of all the Chinese students and scholars in the United States, IFCSS council should send a formal protest to NBC, request that NBC must stop attacking Chinese athletes in their Olympic programs, and apologize for their misleading comments that related Chinese athletes to drug use. ============================================================================== 4. The Proposed Resolution CP4008 Concerning Japanese Emperor's Visit to China Was Amended and Adopted by IFCSS Council. ============================================================================== Attached: Original Proposed Resolution CP4008 The Resolution Concerning the Japanese Emperor's Visit to China by Liu Yuhe/Li Chenjian Whereas the Chinese government will invite the Japanese Emperor Akihito to visit China in October of this year, and Whereas there is a report from media that the emperor will not make a clear apology for world war II during which Chinese and other Asia peoples were killed, raped, and humiliated by Japanese, Be it resolved that IFCSS strongly concern the Chinese government's invitation of the Japanese emperor to visit China; and IFCSS supports the compensation claims of Chinese people. Be it further resolved that IFCSS demand that the Japanese Emperor make a clear apology to Chinese people for Japanese behaviors in China during wartime and that the Japanese government compensate the suffering of Chinese people during the war. It is also resolved that if a council member's communication expense exceed $20.00 that month, the council member shall file to the Co-chair of this Council, in detail, a separate request for the compensation subtracting the $20.00. ============================================================================ 7.
