The following is a brief description of them for your reference. The basic designing ideas are : to conduct the Council work related discussion open to the public; to have a place the Council members can communicate in a more informal way and with more relaxed topics, so as to build up friendship among ourselves; to avoid too much trafic to everyone; to have a place the public can feed back to the Council. The accounts are: 1. "counci-l" -- the council-l formal net as announced already. This is the right place for us to formally discuss the Council's work, propose resolutions, debate them, and vote on them. This net is subject to public audit. Any students can sign on it. But, only council members can post to it. It is strongly recommended, if not required, that all the council-work- related messages be posted to this net. To build an open image of the Council. 2. "council-wn" -- the council's informal net. Only Council members are in this list, and only council members receive the messages of the net. Basically we can post any informal or serious matters here. As for the Council's work related matters, I think it is appropriate to post messages such as address update to this net. Anything that may relate to the Council's decision making should go to the public (council-l) net. Otherwise, if discussions were conducted here, and decisions were posted there (council-l), the public would be lost, hence probably angered. I believe everyone can do it great by his/her own judgement regardig this matter. The last occasion, maybe extremely rare, is that we can move certain discussion from the public forum to this 'closed-door' net, when it is regarded necessary, with proper announcement to the public. 3. "council" -- collecting public comment/opinion. This is something we do different from the last term. We provide an official channel for the public to communicate with the Council. To avoid too much traffic to everyone, I have temporarily put Liqun, Chen Dong and myself in the list of forward to monitor the incoming mails. Any other council members can join in at any time to be a listener. Just let me know. Anyone in the list can forward the incoming messages to the council-wn net if he or she view it neccessary. 4. 'chair' -- working and archieving site, and for maintenance. All the above accounts are @ifcss.org .
