A Mass Media Action: This is from fcc.gov gopher. ==================================================================== Report No. MM-806 MASS MEDIA ACTION February 25, 1994 FCC RENEWS THE LICENSE OF KAME-TV, RENO, NV, FOR A SHORT TERM WITH REPORTING CONDITIONS; ISSUES NAL FOR $18,750 The Commission has granted the renewal application of Page Enterprises, Inc., licensee of KAME-TV, Reno, NV, for a short term (ending October 1, 1996) subject to reporting conditions and a Notice of Apparent Liability (NAL) for $18,750 for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) rule violations. The NAACP and LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) filed petitions to deny against the renewal application, alleging that the licensee's EEO program raised concerns. The petitioners requested that the Commission investigate Page's EEO performance, designate the application for hearing, and deny the application. Subsequently, the NAACP, LULAC, Page and Ellis Communications, Inc., proposed assignee of KAME-TV, filed a Joint request for approval of settlement agreement requesting approval of the agreement, dismissal of the petition to deny and grant of the station's license. The FCC found that the agreement complied with its rules and policies and approved the agreement. Action by the Commission February 24, 1994, by Memorandum Opinion and Order and Notice of Apparent Liability (FCC 94-43).
