After studying, Mr. Huang left his department office heading for his home. In less than 200 yards after leaving his department building, Mr. Huang noticed somebody approaching him from behind. Because he had never thought of any possible danger on campus, he did not run to escape. But the person hit him with a crashing blow on his head using a baseball bat or some thing similar. He could not remember how many time the person attacked him from the behind. He did remember when he turned around he was attacked again on the forehead and the face. He fell down to the ground and lost his consciousness. After about 10 minutes(estimated), Mr. Huang aroused partly, regained some consciousness, and thought that he himself was dreaming. Some how he started to move toward home. He fell down again before reaching the Denison street. He can not recall how he struggled the rest of the walking to his home. The parking lot in front of his apartment building, the stares to his third floor apartment, the apartment door and floor, were all left with blood. He did arrived home 11:30 to 11:40 PM. His roommate Mr. Wu could not recognize him until heard his voice. All his head from behind to front, from left to right, was covered with coagulated blood. And fresh blood were still breeding from the wounds. A portion of the skin and hair on his skull was scraped back, leaving the fresh unprotected by the skin but covered with blood. His face swelled so much and with all the blood around. His roommate could only describe it as doubling the size of his normal face. His lips were cut deep. Both of his eyes could not be seen because of the swell and the blood. All the upper parts of his over coat, sweater, and shirt were covered by blood. His roommate called the police. The ambulance arrived, and he was sent to Manhattan Memorial Hospital. Around 12:00 midnight, Mr. Huang started to vomit, an indication of brain damage. CAT Scan test identified a blood clot in his brain. His life was in danger. Around 2:25 AM Friday, Nov. 19, He was transferred to St. Francis Hospital at Topeka. Further diagnosis at St. Francis Hospital revealed a life-threatening pressure on his brain because of the blood accumulation there. Doctors had to perform a skull surgery called Temporal Parietal Craniotomy to save his life. A plastic surgery on his lip was also performed. The surgery operations last about three hours. This brutal attack has changed a student's life. Mr. Huang came to KSU as a graduate student in the Department of regional and community planning this semester. He enrolled in five graduate courses. He was an intelligent and diligent student. Up to the incident, his home work and mid term exams have accumulated him all A's for the five courses. Mr. Huang was also an active student enjoyed different kind of sports (specially, swimming and volleyball). For his next day activities, he had planned to join friends for a volleyball game and call his sister in China to say "Happy Birthday". He never had a chance to implement his next day's schedule, because for the next three days, he was in intensive care at the St. Francis Hospital. He was in a state between unconsciousness and dreaming. After the three days of critical care, he continued to be hospitalized for 9 more days. Mr. Huang was released from hospital and came back to Manhattan on Tuesday, Nov. 30. He is still confined to the bed much of the time. He Bsuffers a temporally memory loss, and responds to people slow. He is missing the remaining of the semester. His memory and concentration capability might need a long time to recover. Mr. Huang is a first year graduate student from People's Republic of China. His school expenses have been very difficult because he does not have a graduate assistantship and he is paying out-of-state tuition. Part-time working on the campus has been his only income for this semester. Now the expense from this attack and the uncertain of his future create great anxiety and some despair for him. Since the accident, people known and unknown has comforted Mr. Huang a great deal. Chinese students and scholars at KSU have worked hard to make his life easier. A Victim's Relief Fund has been established. Your contribution to this effort will be greatly appreciated. The purpose of this fund raising is to bring him back to his normal life and to help him to continue his study at KSU. In response to this inquiry that came on to the China-Net, I hereby transcribe an excerpt from INS Form N-400 that describes who may apply for naturalization: - you have been a lawful permanent resident for five years; - you have been married permanent resident for three years, have been married to a United States citizen for those three years, and continue to be married to that U.S. citizen; - you are the lawful permanent resident child of United States citizen parents; or - you have qualifying military service. Needless to say, you should begin with this Form N-400 Application for Naturalization as the first step.
