Guideline for Executive Moderator of China-Net (Revised to December 22, 1993) 1. Check mail frequently, at least once a day. If unable to do so, inform net-cord@ifcss.org as soon as possible. 2. For mail sent to net-cord, ccf-editor, or china-nt (then bounced to ccf-editor), if it is a contribution for publication, leave it for the Executive Editor (EE) of Chinese Community Forum (CCF); if it is a technical request, such as sub/unsub/back-issue, etc., reply with a standard instruction. If a problem can not be solved, inform net-cord. 3. Watch out mail posted through china-net. If someone with direct posting privilege (DPP) posts things irrelevant to the registered organization's activities, draft a warning and send it to net-cord for comments, then send the final version of the warning to the DPP. 4. Identify potential new DPP. If find a spokesman/woman of an organization of Chinese students and scholars (CSS) in need of using China-Net but not on our DPP list yet, send him/her an invitation and a registration form. When receive the filled form, forward it to cnmc-tech@ifcss.org so that he/she can be added to our DPP list by one of the list owners. 5. Keep an eye on the drafts of CCF and its various supplementary issues and help to produce packages with good quality. 6. Edit Chinese Community Bulletin (CCB). -------------- CCB Guidelines 1. Collect left-overs, i.e., those neither published through China-Net/CCF nor in the plan for any issue of CCF, and put them into a package (except urgent messages, which should be forwarded to the net immediately). 2. Put a header at the beginning (sample provided below), using year-month-day for the serial number, e.g., CCB 931112. 3. Attach a tailer at the end (sample provided below), filling in the names of Executive Editor and Executive Moderator on duty. 4. Insert a long line between any two items. 5. For each item, delete the original long header, except for the "From:" field and "Subject" (if any), and optionally "Date:" and "To:" fields. 6. Make a Table of Contents, which contains titles and original senders/ authors, and optionally more information, e.g., number of lines. 7. Optionally, adjust number of characters in a line so that no more than 76, adjust spaces and paragraphs, and check spelling and grammar, etc. 8. Send the draft of CCB to ccf-editor for comments. 9. If no objection, post CCB on Thursday (after the Wednesday regular issue). When posting, be sure to include CCB number in the Subject field. --------------------------------- Sample header and tailer for CCB: ===+==+==+==+==+==+== Chinese Community Bulletin ==+==+==+==+==+==+=== (CCB yymmdd) +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Chinese Community Bulletin (CCB) is one of the supplementary issues of Chinese Community Forum (CCF).
