Here I write something just for fun. This is a Chinese character random display program called "randpy", which takes advantage of the "hzview" program by Fungfung Lee and the Pinyin-GB table by Ed Lai. "RANDPY" randomly choose a Chinese character and its pinyin, displays it on the terminals. You can use it to learn to read correct Chinese pronunciation at your lunch time, or put it in your .logout to leave a Chinese character on the screen! You will find out that there are so many Chinese characters that you know the meaning but pronounce it wrong. "RANDPY' is written on UNIX but maybe run on DOS. The Mac version will be a much nice looking 'AfterDark" module used as a screen saver. To use it, you need to have the "hzview" package by Fung F. Lee (available by anonymous ftp: ahkcus.org [192.55.187.25]). [ available by anonymous ftp: ifcss.org:/software/unix/viewer ] randpy | hzview or randpy -b | hzview which display the pinyin in characters as big as the Chinese characters. In the 'lunch" script, it shows chinese characters randomly and continuously with the pinyin. You can watch and learn chinese when you're eating your sandwich. The accompany "pinyin.hz" file is compiled by Ed Lai. I use the "HZ" format rather than the "GB" format (pinyin.gb in ahkcus.org /src/pc), since it can be easily edit or look at the content. To install, just type: make randpy then put pinyin.hz in the directory defined by environment varaible "HZDIR" (as defined in "hzview" program). randpy is in anonymous ftp site ahkcus.org (192.55.187.25) src/unix Enjoy the beauty of Chinese characters!
