What is it
db 2.4.14 (Berkeley DB) is a programmatic toolkit that provides high-performance embedded database support for both traditional and client/server applications.

The Berkeley DB access methods include B+tree, Extended Linear Hashing, Fixed and Variable-length records. Berkeley DB also includes full transactional support and database recovery, online backups, and separate access to locking, logging and shared memory caching subsystems.

Berkeley DB supports C, C++, Java and Perl APIs, and is available for a wide variety of UNIX platforms as well as Windows '95 and Windows NT (MSVC 4 and 5).
