Yeah, it's probably an accident, but the damn[sic] bridge *is*
a bit harsher on your shocks when entering Monkey County.

I commute along this road every day of the work week and
I never noticed!

I made a point of noticing while driving today.
You're right, they are different, it's very odd!

I know I once had this stupid truck on my tail when I was doing a little

Yeah, I agree. But, have faith, since roads like 32 north of
Clarksville are (reasonably) posted at 55. Some limits are rather
silly, even when you consider poor driving conditions like snow, etc.
The northern stretch of 97 you mention is a good example. Oh, well,
Brighton Dam and Brookeville Roads are posted too slow, too. :)

It _WAS_ 50mph a few years ago. This created an amusing situation
where the 2-lane undivided single-lane RT 650 with a 50mph speed limit
become a 6-lane divided highway with limits from 35-40mph. Probably
the residents complained. (but the road was there first)

That's Montgomery County for you. I've been nabbed on a 4-lane
divided highway with a 25mph speed limit.

No, there's Rt 75 in between I-70 and Old Annapolis Road. It does
have wide shoulders, but it isn't all that straight. That's Frederick
County. They don't have a county police force, which probably helps
keep limits almost reasonable.

I see. I guess they lowerd the ENTIRE ROAD not just the New Hamstrure
part. It is nothing but farm land from Md. 97 to 108 near Damascus and
I'll sure hate to get stuck behind someone doing anything close to the
speed limit. (I took it at 60 most of the way). Maybe I can get montgomery
county to raise the limit to 50 on that one stretch considering the fact
that hardly anyone lives off of it (yeah like they would care).

Humm interesting. The reason I ask is becuase most all two lane higways
in MD or at 50. I think its some sort of MD regulation.

Speaking of Brighton Dam Rd. - has anyone ever noticed that the speed
limits over the dam are different in each direction? Going from
Montgomery COunty to Howard County, the speed limit is 30 mph, but in the
other direction it's 25 mph. Is this a screw-up or is this legit?
