For a Canadian chap who claims to know more about DRL than his American
neighbors, you disappoint a lot Isaac. I am an American, and I know for a
fact that by your own Canadian laws, you are wrong.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again, there are many different
possible configurations for DRL. These range anywhere from very high-intensity
parking lamps, to full-intensity low beams, to high beams at 80% intensity.
Of course, there are dozens of median possibilities too. All are legal within
Canada, and VW has consistently used the 80% intensity high beam for several
years.
This information comes directly from a reprint of the Canadian DRL spec which
is sitting before me. It's not my opinion or observation, so don't even bother
to dispute it. I suggest you best stick with the argument as to whether or not
you believe DRL to be effective and cease pointing the finger with "you don't
even know what it is", when you seem to be unaware of what is legally defined
yourself.
