Every once in a while, we go journeying through parts of the U.S.
which have 55 mph speed limits. Compared to that, we're lucky.
Seriously, we ignore them to a large degree. Typical traffic
speed around here (Toronto area) is 110-125 km/h, conditions
permitting.
I have no idea if any serious effort has been made to lobby
politicians to change it.
