What evidence? The "evidence" is on both sides of the issue. Some studies
suggest a safety benefit and other studies suggest DRLs actually lead to an
overall increase in accidents. Even the US Highway Safety Institute (forgot
the exact name) says that there is no reason to beleive DRLs will increase
safety overal.

DRLs are just more proof of the law of unintended consequences. It appears
that for every accident they *maybe* "avoid" they cause two other accidents
of a different kind. Hard to think of that as a safety benefit.
