Research Libraries Group Roundtable Meeting
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 - 5:30-7:30 pm, Imperial B
The agenda for the meeting appears below, but first and foremost:
Nominations for Roundtable chair
Please consider volunteering to run for election as chair or co-chair of the Roundtable. We became co-chairs a year ago and have enjoyed with Merrilee Proffitt and Jennifer Schaffner at RLG Programs on various issues over the course of the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a leadership role as RLG Programs and OCLC Research work together for the betterment of archives. The new chair(s) will take office immediately after the annual meeting.
Please send your name and a VERY BRIEF expression of interest to Jackie Dooley (email@example.com) by no later than Tuesday, August 26th. We'll present the slate of nominees at the meeting. This Roundtable has a tradition of being quite informal with elections and other bureaucratic details, so candidates may decide to work together as co-chairs, or perhaps to duke it out for the privilege of being despot.
Jackie Dooley, UC Irvine Tom Knoles, American Antiquarian Society
RLG Programs staff will present information on current initiatives focused on archives, including bringing archival materials into the mass digitization milieu, Library-Archives-Museums service relationships, and participating in the development of Encoded Archival Context (EAC). Well also discuss other ways in which RLG Programs and OCLC might benefit the archives community, and then wrap up by talking about the future of the Roundtable.
