[edit] Presentation
This session explored the strategy of pre-custodial intervention, or leveraging the knowledge and capability of active records creators to arrange, house, and describe records themselves, minimizing if not eliminating the time-consuming need for archivists to perform these responsibilities. Tested extensively at Yale University with creators of both manuscript collections and university records, the strategy has yielded measurable results in reducing processing time and costs and has allowed archivists to focus on other responsibilities.
