As a child, Mowgli disappeared into the jungle during an attack by a tiger which killed his father. He grows up under the tutelage of Baloo (a bear), Bagheera (a panther), and a family of wolves. When he encounters civilization again, he is reunited with his childhood playmate, Kitty, now a beautiful young woman, daughter of the widowed Colonel. She is being courted by Captain Boone who believes Mowgli can lead him to unimaginable treasure.

Meanwhile both Jack and Dr. Max Askey, the local doctor, fall in love with the new Mrs. Voysey while Sally looks to her step-mother for advice about her own infatuation with Max.
