Island Cha-Cha

Music: Island by Eddie Raven (teach/slow), They're Playin' Our Song by Neil McCoy (slow/medium), Sometimes She Forgets by Travis Tritt (medium), Dust on the Bottle by David Lee Murphy (medium), If You're Not in It for Love by Shania Twain (medium/fast), My Maria by Brooks and Dunn (fast), or any medium speed cha-cha
Choreographer: Vickie E. Rader, Mechanicsville, Maryland
Position: Individual line dance—all dancers face same direction, heels together, hands on hips (alternative is for the elbows to be at the sides, hands slightly closed, and the forearms parallel to the dance floor)
Description: 32 counts line dance. Most of the dance uses syncopation, with three steps in two beats of music.

Rock Step and and Syncopated Steps in Place

1. Right foot step in front of left leg diagonally to the front and left and weight rocks forward

2. Weight rocks back on the left foot

3-4. Right foot steps to close to left foot, left foot step in place, and right foot step in place

Rock Step and Syncopated Steps in Place

5. Left foot step in front of right leg diagonally to the front and right and weight rocks forward

6. Weight rocks back on the right foot

7-8. Left foot steps to close to right foot, right foot step in place, and left foot step in place

Rock Step and Syncopated 1/2 Turn CW

9. Right foot step forward and weight rock forward

10. Weigh rocks back on the left foot

11-12. Right foot step to close to left foot, but turned 1/6 turn CW; left foot step to close to right foot, but turned 1/6 turn CW; and right foot step in place, but turned 1/6 turn CW

Rock Step and Syncopated 1/2 Turn CCW

13. Left foot step forward and weight rock forward

14. Weigh rocks back on the right foot

15-16. Left foot step to close to right foot, but turned 1/6 turn CCW; right foot step to close to left foot, but turned 1/6 turn CCW; and left foot step in place, but turned 1/6 turn CCW

Two 1/2 Pivot Turns CCW

17. Right foot step forward

18. Pivot on balls of feet 1/2 turn CCW
