Music: Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn, Moon Over Georgia by Shenandoah, or any similar tempo cha cha
Choreographer: Serena Cannon
Position: Couples face outside of circle.  The gentleman stands directly behind the lady, with hands 
joined (right holding right, left holding left) at the lady's shoulders.  This is a very slow moving flow or it can be done as a stationary couples dance.
Difficulty: Intermediate with 54 counts
Description: Couples dance.
Comments:  For indexing purposes and common spelling, it is also called Serenity.

 

Steps are identical for the lady and gentleman unless otherwise noted.

3 Sets - Rock Step and Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps

1.  Right foot step diagonally backwards behind left foot, turning body slightly right, rock back, and drop right hands from shoulder and swing them low as you rock back - the full swing looks like you are swirling a cape
2.  Body rock forward on left foot, facing toward outside, and return right hands to lady's shoulder again
3&4.  Right foot step to close to left foot, left foot step in place, and right foot step in place

5.  Left foot step diagonally backwards behind right foot, turning body slightly left, rock back, and drop left hands from shoulder and swing them low as you rock back - the full swing looks like you are swirling a cape
6.  Body rock forward on right foot, facing toward outside, and return left hands to lady's shoulder again
7&8.  Left foot step to close to right foot, right foot step in place, and left foot step in place

9.  Right foot step diagonally backwards behind left foot, turning body slightly right, rock back, and drop right hands from shoulder and swing them low as you rock back - the full swing looks like you are swirling a cape
10.  Body rock forward on left foot, facing toward outside, and return right hands to lady's shoulder again
11&12.  Right foot step to close to left foot, left foot step in place, and right foot step in place

Rock Step, 2 Sets - Side Step
13.  Left foot step diagonally backwards behind right foot, turning body slightly left, rock back, and drop left hands from shoulder and swing them low as you rock back - the full swing looks like you are swirling a cape
14.  Body rock forward on right foot, facing toward outside, and return left hands to lady's shoulder again
15.  Left foot step 1/4 turn CCW and extend left arms with hands clasped in the direction of the step (directly pointing down line of dance)
16.  Left toe pivot toward the outside of the dance floor, right foot slide to close to left foot, and left hands returning to the lady's left shoulder (resume starting position) 
17.  Left foot step 1/4 turn CCW and extend left arms with hands clasped in the direction of the step (directly pointing down line of dance)
18.  Left toe pivot toward the outside of the dance floor, right foot slide to close to left foot, and left hands returning to the lady's left shoulder (resume starting position) 

Modified Jazz Square with 1/4 Turn CCW

19.  Left foot step to the left 1/4 turn CCW to face line of dance  
20.  Right foot step in front of left leg to the left
21.  Left foot step backward
22.  Right foot step to close to left foot

Modified Jazz Square

23.  Left foot step forward 
24.  Right foot step in front of left leg to the left
25.  Left foot step backward
26.  Right foot step to close to left foot

Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps

27.  Left foot step forward and body rock forward
28.  Body rock back on right foot
29&30.  Left foot step to close to right foot, right foot step in place, and left foot step in place

Gentleman Lady

31.  Right foot step backward, body rocks backward, and right hands extend right arms in a sweep to the right and slightly behind your right shoulder 31.  Right foot step backward and body rock backward
32.  Body rock forward on left foot and right hands return to lady's right shoulder 32.  Body rock forward on left foot
33.  Right foot step to close to left foot and right hand leads the lady's right hand, going over the lady's head as she turns
&.  Left foot step in place
34.  Right foot step in place and right hands drop until man's right wrist crosses over and touches his left wrist (hold wrists crossed until Count 37)
33&34.  Right foot step forward starting 1/2 turn CCW, left foot step next to right foot continuing turn, and right foot step to finish turn

Gentleman Lady

Rock Step and Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps

39.  Right foot step backward and body rocks back
40.  Body rocks forward on left foot
41&42.  Right foot forward, left foot step forward, and right foot step to close to left foot

Gentleman Lady

Step, 1/2 Turn CW, and Syncopated Cha-Cha 1/2 Turn CW 

Rock Step and Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps

43.  Left foot step forward and body rocks forward 43.  Left foot step forward and body rocks forward
44.  Toes pivot 1/2 turn CW 44.  Body rocks backward on right foot
45.  Left foot step to begin turn beside right foot, lift right hands so gentleman's head can go under as he turns, and left hands go low between the bodies as the turn begins
&.  Right foot step next to left foot continuing turn and gentleman's left elbow bends permitting the left hands to follow his belt line to the right
46.  Left foot step next to right foot completing the turn, lower the right hands to the lady's right shoulder, and right hands continue until they are at the belt line above his right rear pocket (wrestling hammer lock)
45&46.  Left foot step to close to right foot, right foot step in place, and left foot step in place

Gentleman Lady
Rock Step and Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps 1/4 Turn CW Rock Step and Syncopated Cha-Cha Steps 3/4 Turn CCW
47.  Right foot step backward and body rocks backward 47.  Right foot step backward and body rocks backward

49.  Right foot step to close to left foot 1/4 turn CW, drop left hand, and right hand starts going the lady's hand for the lady's turn
&.  Left foot step to close to right foot
50.  Right foot step in place, right hands drop beside the lady's right shoulder, and left hands rejoin at the lady's left shoulder
49&50.  Right foot steps next to left foot starting the 3/4 turn CCW, left foot steps next to right foot continuing the turn, and right foot steps next to left foot completing the turn

Hip Bumps and Syncopated Cha-Cha
51.  Left foot step in place and hips bump to the left
52.  Right foot step in place and hips bump to the right 
53&54.  Left foot step in place, right foot step in place, and left foot step in place

Repeat

Option 1

It is possible to substitute the side moving cha-cha steps for all syncopated cha-chas.

Option 2

Substitute the following for Counts 13-19:

13.  Left foot step backward 1/4 turn CCW (pointing toward line of dance) and body rocks backward

14.  Right foot step forward - towards line of dance

15.  Left foot step forward

16.  Right toe step forward to the left side of the left heel

17.  Left foot step forward

18.  Right toe step forward to the left side of the left heel

19.  Left foot step forward

Option 3

Substitute the following for the Lady's Counts 49&50:

49.  Right foot step to close to left foot 1/4 turn CW

&.  Left foot step to close to right foot

50.  Right foot step in place
