Option 1

For competition, Counts 37 and 43 will be left foot step forward, and Counts 38 and 44 will be right foot step 1/2 turn CCW. Most social dancers find this awkward and unnecessarily jerky in an otherwise smooth pattern.

Option 2

Modifications for a couples dance.

Position: Couples in promenade position-all dancers face same direction; lady standing on the gentleman's right side; each will have heels together; his left hand will hold her left hand either in front of his left shoulder, in front of and slightly higher than his waist, or in front of the lady's left shoulder; his right arm will reach behind the lady and hold her right hand in his right hand slightly to the right of her right shoulder

Standard steps for gentleman and lady are identical when danced as a couples dance, but the following arm movements are added: During Counts 19-21, drop right hands, lift left hands to permit the turn, and resume starting position on Count 22. During Counts 28-30, drop left hands, lift right hands to permit the turn, and resume starting position on Count 31. During Counts 37-39, drop left hands, lift right hands to permit turn, regrasp left hands and bring behind the lady's head to her left shoulder. During Counts 43-45, drop right hands, regrasp in front as you finish the turn.

Option 3

Replace Counts 19-21 and 28-30 with the following. Notice there are two 1/2 turn pivots in each grouping.

During Counts 19-27 you will move in a line directly to your left from your current position.

19. Left foot step left

20. Left ball of foot pivot 1/2 turn CCW and then right foot step in the direction of this move

21. Right ball of foot pivot 1/2 turn CCW and then left foot step in the direction of this move

During Counts 28-36 you will move in a line directly to your right from your current position.

28. Right foot step right

29. Right ball of foot pivot 1/2 turn CW and then left foot step in the direction of this move

30. Left ball of foot pivot 1/2 turn CW and then right foot step in the direction of this move

Option 4

Change the final two turns by substituting the following counts:

37. Left foot step forward

38. Right foot step to the right 1/2 turn CW

39. Left foot step to close to right foot

43. Left foot step forward
