Workshop Agenda

Participants earn .6 technology ceus (6 clock hours) for workshop attendance, and an additional .4 ceus if they choose to develop and submit an approved lesson plan.

Session 1

  • No-nonsense Net Learning
    This site was developed by Meg Turner, especially for Seawell teachers. Here they can learn effective search strategies, how to find online resources in a hurry and more! Meg offers a brief overview of the site, where teachers may return to learn information at their own pace.
  • LearnNC Web Site
    Teachers are introduced to the LearnNC homepage, its history and purpose. Teachers choose a password and register for site access.
  • Special Topics: Participants learn to customize, organize and access Internet sites quickly.

  • Standard Course of Study
    LearnNC links directly to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, where teachers can stay current on Statewide curriculum objectives for their grade level.
  • LENI Learners' and Educators' Networked Information

    LENI provides annotated* links to Internet resources you can use in lessons, professional development, student counseling, whatever makes sense. LENI consists of:
    • Learners: resources for K-12 students
    • Educators: resources for teachers and other educators
    • Administration: resources for school administration
    • Resources: reference materials and general information
    • Networking: forums, professional organizations, support centers

Session 2

  • Teachers test their registration access codes and update user information.

  • Lesson Plans
    The Lesson Plan Database is a collection of instructional plans submitted by experienced North Carolina teachers. The plans can be sorted by date, author, grade, and subject, and are correlated to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Discussion Forums
    Participants can read and respond to topics of interest to educators.
  • Teachers learn to set Email and News Preferences.
  • Curriculum Resources
    Multimedia Curriculum Resources are available for downloading and use in the classroom.
  • Session 3

  • Teachers develop lesson plans, using Internet Resources, including clip art. Teachers may choose to add their lesson plan to the existing DataBase of Lesson Plans.
