Update - 12/8/06

Once I release Okopipi-1.8.7 I will be working on Angel more fully. I am close to having a version ready for public testing.
It seems that Okopipi is not going to go anywhere I am going to put more effort into this project.
Keep watching here for more news and status.

What is it?

Angel is the codename for a project I am working on currently. The idea is for this to be the new generation of anti-spam software. It will act much like a firewall does but for e-mail. For those who are non-technical it will be easy to install and get running. Those with more working knowledge of the internet will be able to help make the system better for all of us.

How will it work?

Angel will work using the various anti-spam methods already existing. But it will also incorporate a new method I have developed. This new method is more AI than filter, with each Angel learning and teaching the others. Currently I am not giving out more information on the AI system I am developing until I decide on how to license it. The other features of Angel will be:

Use of RBL (Realtime Blackhole List)
    Bayesian filter
    Scoring
    Whitelist
Proxy - So users don't have to reconfigure mail clients.
    Auto Reporting
Plug-in API so users can develop and share features they would like

Angel will implement a lot of security checks and features to prevent abuse of the system. I will release more details at a later date.

How much will it cost?

Nothing, Angel will be free and open source where possible for users. I hope to make as much of it as open as I possibly can. Anyone will be allowed to use this, at work, at home, wherever. I may try to make an ISP/Corporate version to protect entire domains to help fund development, but that is not a priority at this time. I have not decided on a license to use yet though.
