8 a.m. to Noon News Division CE Course: Business is News: A Primer and Evaluation of Business Resources Available to News Librarians
Dealmakers and their deals are newsworthy. The growth of the stock market and investing along with increased concern over health care, the job market, and the economy has heightened the need for business news. Even businessmen and women have become celebrities.
In addition to understanding the basics of business, news librarians must find and use the most useful and cost-effective sources of business information. The number and variety of sources of business information has grown. In addition to print materials and Internet sources, there is an entire industry attempting to fill our needs for information about companies and the people who run them.
If you're interested in this class, just follow the instructions in the conference program to sign up for continuing education course number 205.
This half-day course will cover:
The course instructors are Mary Danehy, Coordinator of Business Information Services for Time Inc. Research Center, and Diana Henriques, a financial investigative reporter for The New York Times.
