Definitions
Media Asset Management is the process of digitizing, cataloging and enabling the search, retrieval, management, re-purposing, delivery and secure sale of media assets such as audio, video, text and/or images. It involves the systematic organization of digital media files (or digitized proxies and thumbnails of analog media or artifacts such as manuscripts, artwork, etc.) that enable an authorized individual to quickly find, retrieve (or physically locate) and/or route an item to a designated person or into a work progress. It is also referred to as Digital Asset Management, Content Management or Digital Media Management.
