Notes:

D-Space is an interesting project under way at MIT that I was pondering the other day, wondering whether it had newspaper applicability, like in a chain.

Centralized place to put published and semi-published data in OpenSource code, with standardized metadata and three levels of file support --recognizable, supported; known and supported to a point; unknown and not supported but bits (1s and 0s) will be archived.

Fact of the matter is, we'll be using a whole host of techniques to keep data alive: migration, emulation, archaeology, normalization, microfilm.
