For the first time ever, the News Division will sponsor a continuing education course for news librarians at SLA's Winter Education Conference. The course will focus on developing an IntraNet in a news library and/or research center.

Other topics will include document publishing and conversion, document management systems, web-enabling CD-ROMs and other proprietary databases, internal group collaboration -- all with an emphasis on knowledge management. Portions of the course will be technical.

Our instructors, Howard McQueen and Jean E. DeMatteo, are frequent and popular speakers at SLA events. As CEO of McQueen Consulting, Mr. McQueen has consulted with newspapers and magazines and has developed practical expertise in designing and implementing IntraNet and knowledge-based systems.
