About This Homepage:

About this Homepage . SLA News Division Web Site.

Alamo City Information Drive-Thru

The News Research staff has developed this site to be a prototype of a Newsroom INTRANET. The Intranet gives access to shared resources to any employee at a workstation which has Internet access and a Netscape browser. We plan to use this intranet as a vehicle to provide the newsroom with information resources and support. However, the Intranet could be used for other administrative communications. We will be seeking your input during the coming months to grow the contents of the site.

The Newsroom homepage will act as the launching pad for the new archive system for retrieving stories, and later, photos and graphics. Searching Instructions and HELP screens will be available.
It will also include an up-to-date catalog of all books, magazines and newspapers available in the newsroom.

Internet and online database resources will be highlighted. We will maintain links to the best the Web has to offer, and provide a way for you to share the great websites you discover with your colleagues. Information gathered for reporting projects, will be posted. Access will be provided to databases of local people and statistics.

The homepage is currently maintained outside the firewall of the Express-News Online fileserver (and therefore could be seen by web explorers), but will later migrate to our own inhouse platform. When it is securely positioned in such a way that only Express-News employees and no other external internet users can access it, we will be able to post home phone numbers or other confidential information.

We are seeking suggestions, and submissions for additional content for the Intranet. Contact Kathy Foley ( ext 3273) or Jennifer Small (ext 3274) or use email form below.

Alamo City Information Drive-Thru is only a temporary name for News Research's homepage. We will be looking for new, original name for this site. Start letting your imagination roam.
