    Generates interest and maintains relationships with key institutional experts who contribute to the site.

  • Gathers and posts content on the site for all areas of the Institute
  • Writes, develops, and edits material on various topics as well as institutional services, including: cancer research, cancer patient resources, DFCI initiatives, on-line patient support, chat sessions with M.D.’s, fund raising programs.
  • Edits all material for use on the web to assure quality, continuity of message and accuracy.
  • Designs and implements interactive programs.
  • Creates editorial policy recommendations and guides contributors in policy compliance.
  • Produces content regarding Dana-Farber news, events, and breakthroughs.
  • Ensures that the appropriate Dana-Farber individual answers e-mails from Web users within 24 hours.
  • Creates new sections and features of the web site, as needed.
  • Works with Director of Interactive Communications and other staff to develop strategies to increase the visibility of the Web sites on the Internet, in DFCI publications, and in the external media.
  • Working with internal DFCI managers and staff to integrate major new initiatives into the site.
  • Assists others to post their own materials to the site, and training them how to use this system.
  • Responding to DFCI employees and others who would like their information posted to the site.
  • Promote the use of the Internet.
  • Assistance with the maintenance of the intranet.
  • Participates in Social media projects and day to day posting.
Job Qualifications

The Editor of the Dana-Farber intranet manages and develops the editorial content of the site and supports groups throughout the Dana-Farber on executing their goals for internal messaging. He/she writes and edits material about employee communications and DFCI activities. He/she works with many groups, administrators, clinical staff, researchers and leadership to keep the website informative, current, fresh and easy to read.  This is an exciting, diverse and highly visible position for a person with the skills to guide and manage many internal communications initiative.

Schedule
  • Experience as senior editor and team manager with 4-6 years of professional writing, and editing (at least 2 years writing for the web).
  • Must be able to coach knowledgeable experts to deliver clear and concise material on complex subjects.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English or Journalism.
  • Medical writing or scientific writing background.
  • Basic Web technical skills.
  • The ability to lead an interdisciplinary professional team and to deliver on deadline.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to set and maintain high editorial standards.
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to garner support and interest from contributors throughout the institute.
  • Experience managing or writing for an automated, content-driven WWW site.
  • Extensive experience with Web page design and site maintenance.
  • Basic graphic design and graphics software skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work or technical and non-technical contractors.

Generally, a 40-hour workweek, with some longer hours expected for certain projects.
