About the Spinix Operating System

Spinix is a GNU/Linux distribution currently for the intel x86 platform.  It's design has been kept simple,  while still allowing for maximum use. In it's simplest form, it takes up only around 130Megs and with full development and X only around 500Megs. This makes Spinix ideal for firewall installations and old systems with limited resources.
The system is made up of a base, or core, and optional packages that can be installed and uninstalled on the fly without affecting the overall OS. This keeps the overall system stable while still catering to the needs of the end users.
Spinix was built following the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard. This allows extreme portability between Spinix and other FHS compliant GNU/LINUX derivatives.
